Doctors die in head-on collision

Two doctors travelling in a motor car towards Anuradhaprua along the Kurunegala-Anuradhapura main road died when their vehicle collided head-on with a lorry transporting fish on August 29.

The accident had occurred at 8 - 10 p.m. at Kurundankulama in Galgamuwa Police area.

The two doctors have been identified as Dr. Dharshana Peris attached tot he Anuradhaprua teaching hospital as an intern doctor and Dr. Bandara serving at the Vavuniya IDP camp.

The two doctors had died on admission to Galgamuwa hospital.

Inspector Atapattu attached to the Galgamuwa hospital said, the lorry driver has been taken in custody.

The two bodies were handed over to the relatives after the magisterial inquiry.
