Testing of tsunami towers

Tsunami pre-warning towers erected in the following districts will undergo a testing process on the days and time given below:

Gampaha 	Sept. 3 	from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Puttalam 	Sept. 6 	from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Trincomalee 	Sept. 8 	from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Batticaloa 	Sept. 10 	from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Ampara		Sept. 12 	from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Hambantota 	Sept. 15 	from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Matara		Sept. 17 	from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Galle 		Sept. 19 	from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

On these days, these towers will issue a tsunami warning through a horn sound and the message will be issued in several languages.

Public are advised not to be perturbed or panic over these warning sounds or messages on these days, a press release from the Disaster Management and Human Rights Ministry stated.
