Randoli perahera on September 1

The first Randoli perahera of the historic Embekke Kataragama Devale and Devatha Bandara Devale will be held on September 1. Hemantha Welivita, the new Basnayake Nilame of the Devale said 'The Randoli perahera will be held from September 1 to 5 daily.

The perahera consists of ancient Kandyan arts and dances, kavadi dances and elephants parading the streets.

The grand finale of this historic event is on September 6 (Sunday) with the day perahera.

Embekke Kataragama Devale world famous for its wood carvings, was built by King Wickremabahu III of Gampola era (1358 AD to 1374 AD).
