Traffic restrictions for perahera

There will be traffic restrictions along the Galle-Colombo main road until September 2 in view of the 42nd Esala Maha Perahera of the Seenigama Devalaya.

These traffic curtailments will take place between 1.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. today while on September 1 and 2, this will be affective from 8.00 p.m. to 1.00 a.m. the next day.

During this period, all vehicles (except heavy vehicles) proceeding to Galle from Colombo will be diverted from Kahawa junction to travel along Mitiyagoda, Aluthwala, Sarana junction and via Kumara Kanda to Galle.

Heavy vehicles may be stopped from proceeding subject to the prevailing situation during the festival. Arrangements have been made to allow the vehicles to proceed towards Colombo from Galle on the main road during the festival. No vehicles proceeding towards Galle from by-roads along this stretch will be allowed.
