Moratuwa Varsity team brings credit to Sri Lanka
The team from the University of Moratuwa represented Sri Lanka at the
World Finals of the CIMA Global Business Challenge (CGBC) competition
secured the runners-up position at the World Finals held in Singapore at
the National University of Singapore (NUS).
This team consisting of Channa Gunasekara, Harinda Gunathilaka,
Thusitha Chandrapala and Dulini Mudunkotuwa, were put together by the
Department of Management of Technology (MOT) which earlier won the Sri
Lankan finals beating other teams from other local universities.
This is a significant achievement for the University of Moratuwa
considering that the then world finals fielded seven other teams from UK
(University of Sussex), Ireland (Latterkenny Institute of Technology),
China (Shanghai University of Finance and Economics), Singapore
(National University of Singapore), Malaysia (Taylors University
College), India (Jain University) and Hong Kong (Chinese University of
Hong Kong).
The team from Hong Kong were judged as the Champions but only by a
very narrow margin over the team from Sri Lanka which beat off the rest
of competition to secure their Runner up position.
This team was coached and mentored by I. Mahakalanda, lecturer,
Department of Management of Technology and Mario Fonseka (as the
external coach and mentor).
The competition was based on a past TCOPCIMA case study. |
