Union Motor Reload from Union Assurance

Union Assurance has re-defined motor insurance with their latest product - Union Motor Reload.

Motor insurance is a heavy burden on most vehicle owners, as insurance has to be purchased for the full year, and the annual premium has to be paid as a lump sum. With their latest product, Union Assurance has taken this burden away.

Union Motor Reload allows vehicle owners the option of purchasing their motor insurance for one month, three months or six months from any Keells Super outlet.

"Union Assurance and Keells Super have combined to make purchasing motor insurance as simple as shopping for your grocery items. Union Motor Reload is a monthly insurance cover to suit the income pattern of salaried and self-employed individuals" said Union Assurance, CEO, Marina Tharmaratnam.

"We came up with the name Reload, because after purchasing the initial policy, customers can reload (renew) their policy for a given period as easily as obtaining a reload for a mobile phone," said Deputy CEO, Dirk Pereira.

In addition to the flexible coverage period which is easy on the wallet, the product retains the features of a standard insurance policy currently sold in the market.

In the event of an accident, the claim will be paid similar to a standard motor policy.

Another feature is that the premium will be fixed on an annual basis. Hence if a customer obtains a one month, three month or six month insurance cover, the premium will not change during the balance period up to 12 months.

In addition, customers will also be entitled to earn UA's accelerated no claim bonuses after 12 months are completed.

"If you are a first time Union Motor Reload customer, all you have to do is drive into any Keells Super outlet and submit your national identity card, vehicle identification certificate or vehicle registration book, together with the renewal notice of the previous insurance if applicable, and obtain a Union Motor Reload policy for a period of your choice," said Union Assurance Senior Manager, Kennedy Michael.

"Thereafter, to renew the policy, provide your vehicle number to the any Keells Super staff member, and they will take care of the rest," he said.

With innovative Green Ion technology:

LG door cooling refrigerators

Leading the LG Health Plus range of products is the innovative Green Ion Door Cooling Refrigerator which has been specially designed to keep food fresh longer, retain the natural proteins and vitamins and preserve the taste of the food, keeping all the goodness intact.

The genuine "Door Cooling System", for which only LG has an international patent, has vents on the interior door panel as well as the sides of the cabinet which allows cool air to be replenished faster every time the refrigerator is opened and closed. This speeds up the cooling process and turns off the compressor quicker with huge savings on electricity.

To reinforce its efficient energy saving and innovative Door Cooling Refrigerator, LG has introduced another unique feature for retaining enhanced food freshness. Green Ion Technology uses a ventilation system coated in catechins, a green tea extract, to deodorize the refrigerator. This, combined with a negative ion generator, kills food-spoiling bacteria and fungi, effectively resulting in 5.7 times less fungi after seven days compared to conventional models.

The green catechins keep food fresh two and a half times longer than normal refrigerators. Catechin is directly extracted from green tea leaf and is non-toxic and of natural antibiotic substance which is not harmful to human beings. Catechin is known to slow the process of aging and is effective in restraining the spoiling of food.

Keeping food fresh is very important for one's health and well-being. LG has developed cutting-edge technology to make your refrigerator help you achieve these goals. LG's Smart Compartment Technology with Anti-Bacteria Seal prevents molds entering and spoiling the food. The seal, which acts as a shield to keep food healthy and hygienic longer, is in the gasket which is washable.

The Cell Fresh Crisper is designed to control the moisture level of fruits and vegetables to retain freshness and strengthen storage time.

Black Knight launches shaving cream

Throughout the world, people are moving away from the use of soap on their face, due to its harmful effect on the skin.

Soap, which is commonly used by most Sri Lankan males for shaving, can damage the fat and protein structure of the top layer of the skin.

This can cause unpleasant skin reactions, leading to a rougher skin texture.

Studies have shown that the long-term use of soap can lead to higher acidic pH of the skin, as well as increased bacteria and swelling, which can lead to cellular damage.

The fatty acids in soap may cause acne by plugging the follicles (pores) in the skin. Soaps may also contain fragrance and sometimes dyes or pigments, which may cause irritation for people with sensitive skin.

To provide Sri Lankan men with a 'no soap' alternative, Black Knight shaving cream has been especially formulated.

Black Knight shaving cream has been specially created to prevent the harmful and damaging effects of using soap while shaving.

Instead of the powerful chemicals contained in soap, Black Knight shaving cream is enriched with Glycerin which moisturizes and revitalizes the skin, while preventing it from drying and hardening and Menthol to give a refreshing feel.

The result is a smooth shave, which also ensures that the Black Knight shaving cream user's skin remains young and supple year after year.
