How IT changed my life:

IT field best to try out new things

Ashan Kumar met Jeyavani Rishikesan Senior QA Lead hSenid Mobile Solutions Pvt (Ltd) to understand How "IT" changed her life...

Jeyavani Rishikesan

IT (Information Technology) is a science which is constantly changing as a scientific discipline because of research and development activities in the fields of technology, data base technology, software technology, video technology and communication technology, to the adaptation to a vital part of everyday life.

It was soon after her Ordinary level examinations that Jeyavani first laid hands on her sister's new computer. She still recalls the day as March 5, 2000. She wondered in awe and amazement at how the computer was made.

She was astounded by the amount of codes and mathematical thinking that went in to the creation of this magnificent device and right then she realized that IT would be her vocation. That is how young hardworking Jeyavani shared with me, her first impression of IT. Jeyavani is the youngest in the family. Her father was a doctor whilst her mother was a housewife. Initially she studied at Highland Central College, Hatton and then moved to Tamil Maha Vidyalam in Kahawatta.

She said that the best decision she made was to commence her career in the Computer Engineering field. She knew IT was the best field to try out new things, and explore her enthusiasm for software coding and development. She was amazed to see the opportunities lying ahead of her in the IT industry and how farther she could soar beyond her dreams.

Her ambition was to be a doctor, as her father being a doctor created the notion. But when she grew up she felt that the dream was slipping away. She selected the Physical Science stream for her A/Ls as she wanted to become an engineer. She described the impact IT has made on her, "I passed out from the Faculty of Engineering from the University of Peradeniya as a Computer Engineer, I joined hSenid Mobile Solutions Pvt (Ltd) as an Associate Software Engineer, where I experienced a major change in my life as I was starting my career in IT.

Work at hSenid Mobile gave me a lot of opportunities, challenges and education to get where I am now, leading the quality assurance team of the company. IT is my best friend, which showed me my unutilized potential and talents. As my knowledge of IT increased, I began to realize the influence IT was making on me".

She said that IT is the finest field where one cannot stop learning, experiencing everyday a fresh, new innovative idea. "I would say this is a field where we can keep our thinking revitalized. Obviously everyone knows this is one of the most important areas where you can do so many things", she said.
