Heroin worth Rs. 8 million recovered

The police on a tip off recovered heroin worth nearly Rs. 8 million from three persons in different places. The three suspects were taken in to custody from Ferguson Road, Colombo 14, Makola North and Samara Mawatha, Polwatta, Galewela, police spokesman senior D.I.G Nimal Mediwaka stated in a press release yesterday.

The police also raided a place in Makola North and took the second suspect into custody and recovered a 9 mm pistol, 21 T 56 cartridges, Air Force and Amy camouflage uniforms and a stock of ammunition.

The first suspect had 25 grams and 100 milligrams of heroin in his possession while the second suspect had 734 grams and 790 milligrams of heroin. The third suspect had 203 grams and 70 milligrams of heroin and an electric weighing scale. Further investigations were being carried out by the police Narcotics Bureau the press release noted.
