Dr. Liam Fox calls on President : Shadow Defence Secretary of UK Dr. Liam Fox called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at President’s House yesterday. Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunge, Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe, Central Bank Governor Ajith Cabraal and Assistant to Dr. Liam Fox, Adam Werrity were also present. Dr. Liam Fox also visited the Jaffna Peninsula where he met Rev. Fr. Justin B. Gnanapiragasam, Vicar General, Diocese of Jaffna and Members of the Citizen Committee at the Jaffna Bishop’s House. Dr. Liam Fox also met Jaffna Government Agent K. Ganesh at his District Secretariat office in Jaffna.

Three killed; Air-conditioned basement found in Maligawatta three storey building:

In a shoot out with the Police Special Task Force, three key underworld men were killed early yesterday at Maligawatta. The shoot out took place in a three storey building at Maligawatta, Colombo and the underworld figures Faaji, Army Toji and Saadi were killed in the exchange of fire with the STF.
