ITU Deputy Secretary General visits Lanka

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Deputy Secretary General Houlin Zhao arrived in the island on August 27 and will stay here until August 30. He is here on an invitation by Telecommunications Regulatory Commission Director General Priyantha Kariyapperuma.

Zhao will meet the President to discuss the development of ICT in the country. He has commended the development of the telecommunications industry, especially the initiatives in the ICT sector under the leadership of the President. This is one of the reasons which prompted him to accept the invitation to come to the island. A ceremony will be held at the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission in honour of the visiting Deputy Secretary General by the staff of TRCSL.

The country has developed close relationship with ITU in its endeavour to develop the telecommunications sector.
