Irangika Range
In a bid to provide a wider range of consumer items at concessionary
rates to the public, the Government will shortly open its first and
large scale Textile and Garment Trading Complex attached to the
Dedicated Economic Center in Narahenpita.
Trade, Marketing Development, Co-operatives and Consumer Services
Minister Bandula Gunawardene told the Daily News that this complex would
provide marketing facilities to local textile and garment manufacturers,
importers, and suppliers of gift items manufactured across the country.
The trading complex will give an opportunity for all textile and
garment traders to display their collections and market them. The
Minister said this is a morale boost to the local textile and garment
industry.
The complex comprising 100 trade stalls have been constructed by the
Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) utilizing modern
technology to facilitate traders as well as consumers.
The trading complex will open for customers from 4.30 pm to 11.00 pm
daily. "This opportunity would vastly fulfill the textile and garment
needs of consumers at cheaper rates," the Minister said.
The Minister said the construction of the second textile and garment
trading complex attached to the Ratmalana Dedicated Center is underway
by the CECB.
