ADB funds for NCP roads

The Asian Development Bank funded North Central and Eastern
Provincial Roads project will be commissioned in mid October.
The two provincial roads rehabilitation projects would cost the ADB
Rs. 14,000 million for the completion under a five years development
plan.
The ADB will grant Rs. 7,000 million to rehabilitate 220 kilometres
of 'C' and 'D' category roads in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts.
General Manager of the North Central Provincial Road Development
Authority Senarath Pushpakumara told Daily News that his organisation
has been entrusted with the North Central Provincial Road Development
Component.
"We have made arrangements to award the relevant contracts to
inaugurate the rehabilitation work under the phase one of the ADB
project."
The first roadway to be renovated is the Gonapatirawa, Senapura,
Kagama, Akkara Panseeya road.
