ADB funds for NCP roads

The Asian Development Bank funded North Central and Eastern Provincial Roads project will be commissioned in mid October.

The two provincial roads rehabilitation projects would cost the ADB Rs. 14,000 million for the completion under a five years development plan.

The ADB will grant Rs. 7,000 million to rehabilitate 220 kilometres of 'C' and 'D' category roads in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts. General Manager of the North Central Provincial Road Development Authority Senarath Pushpakumara told Daily News that his organisation has been entrusted with the North Central Provincial Road Development Component.

"We have made arrangements to award the relevant contracts to inaugurate the rehabilitation work under the phase one of the ADB project."

The first roadway to be renovated is the Gonapatirawa, Senapura, Kagama, Akkara Panseeya road.
