The Government has taken steps to construct an administrative complex
for Government institutions which will house a large number of
Government organisations that will come under the Hambantota harbour.
The new building complex will also house offices that are to be
demolished with the construction of the port.
The administrative building is being constructed at a cost of Rs.
2,900 million on a 72-acre land in Siribopura, Gonnoruwa in Hambantota.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by November, this year.
Accordingly, 42 Government institutions will be established in this
administrative complex such as banks, post office, Local Government
institutions, libraries, electricity depots, telecommunication offices
and others.
"The people will benefit from this new office complex since they can
get their requirements attended to within the same premises. The
Government will take steps to arrange transport and other facilities for
the people who come to this complex," Media Minister Laksman Yapa
Abeywardena said. "People's time will not be wasted as all their needs
could be met with by Government institutions operating in the same
premises. |
