ICASL awards schols
For Jaffna students:
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) which
recently set up its regional knowledge centre at the Jaffna College
undergraduate department premises, simultaneously initiated a move to
identify and award the talent bestowed in the region by presenting 20
scholarships of ICASL courses for needy students in the region.
This move aims at providing a stable foundation for the students of
the region who possess a significant talent in education. Several high
ranking government officials including Minister of Trade, Marketing
Development, Co-operatives and Consumer Affairs Bandula Gunawardena and
Minister of Social Welfare and Social Services Douglas Devananda and
other representative were present.
Welcoming this initiative of the ICASL the Jaffna College principal
Noel A. Vimalendran praised the institute for not only bringing its
global qualification to the doorstep of the region's students, but also
assisting the needy students to voyage their educational career with the
prestigious institute.
ICASL president Nishan Fernando said that it gives the institute
immense pleasure to nurture young minds and drive them to the path of
successful career paths, and the ICASL continues to nourish the younger
generation of the Northern Province, he said.
ICASL Student Training and Development Committee Chairman Lasantha
Wickremesinghe said that it gives him immense pleasure to see the
commitment and dedication of students of the region for higher education
especially for Chartered Accountancy courses, and said that the Jaffna
region in earlier times had produced most of the valued Chartered
Accountants who led the industries and government institutions.
It is time for them to once again rise up to its previous status with
the guidance and support of the institute, ICASL considers it as a
obligation to support financially and otherwise students who require
assistance and guidance at this crucial moment, he said. |
