All-time record price for tea

Uva Highlands Estate in the Bandarawela District and managed by Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC set up an all time record when a fine flavoury vintage quality BOP obtained Rs. 3,100 per kilo for the third consecutive week at the Colombo Tea Auctions on August 26. This surpassed the record price of Rs. 2,650 for the same grade established by Uva Highlands Estate at the Colombo Tea Auctions of August 19.

This line was purchased by M/s. Akbar Brothers Ltd, and was sold by M/s. Eastern Brokers Ltd.

This is the first time an estate has passed the Rs. 3,000 per kilo mark for a BOP grade.
