Mithun, Rusi and Gyi in line for RCGC's Golf title

The ninth annual Royal Colombo Golf Club Championship has progressed
from the qualifying round matches played over the weekend, to proceed to
the quarter final and semi final stage this Saturday, with the finals
scheduled for the following day, Sunday at the RCGC.
Much enthusiasm did prevail amongst the 120 participants in the
preliminaries, that preceded the oncoming quarter and semi finals. Some
of them are seasoned campaigners in the arena of golf here - with quite
a few having won the title at one time or another. Those who have
successfully entered the quarter finals for Saturday, is the defending
champion, the reputed Mithun Perera who takes on, Sheron Fernando. The
former champion, Rusi Captain is pitted against David Evans, Zen
Dharmaratne plays against Alain Gyi, yet another former champion, whilst
Sarath Wickramaratne, a consistent performer having won quite a few
domestic titles will be up against Amrith De Soysa.
The quarter finalists in the Silver Division are K. Kumarasingam vs
L. T. Samarawickrema, Srinath Rajapaksa vs Ivor Maharoof, Suren Vaas vs
Lalin Senadhira, and Shirosh Gunethilake vs Janak Hirdramani.
In the Bronze Divisions the Quarter Final clashes are between C.
Gunesekera vs Nihal Keppetipola, Tony Nadaraja vs P. Hapugalla, M.
Hettiarachchi vs T. Wickramasinghe and D. De Silva vs P. Kuruppu.
Battling in the Masters Division are H. M. Samaranayake vs J. M.
Wanigasekera, Dr. L. P. V. Jayaweera vs Ken Sellayah.
