Lankans lose to India 1-3

Sri Lanka after a hard fight went down to India three goals to one in the ongoing Nehru Cup Soccer championship in New Delhi yesterday.

India got off to the most wanted lead in the 28th minute throughout the goal scored by Indian skipper Baichim Bhutia. The teams returned for lemons with this score.

The 62nd minute saw the Lankans get the equaliser through the boot of Ruwantilleke. Few minutes later India's Gauramingi put his side into the lead again 2-1. Lankans fought gallantly but failed with their kicks to add goals to their tally. Dias found the net with a sorching kick six minutes before final whistle which also sealed victory for India.

Baichum Bhutia the skipper was declared as the player of the match.
