SLC increase its funds for development
Sri Lanka Cricket has made a valuable contribution towards the
development of domestic cricket in the country by donating funds,
cricketing material and other additional expenditure amounting to over
Rs. 5million for a player per season.
In fact the SLC has played a pivotal role in working together with
the clubs to nurture, develop and foster the game of cricket in Sri
Lanka. During the past few months, the number of cricketers contracted
stands at a healthy 78, with an increase of 53 newly contracted
cricketers.
The financial disbursements consist of player's fees per player on a
match by match basis, match venue fees on a daily basis. The
disbursements are made for League and limited over games.
In addition the SLC provides equipments and support services such as
cricket balls, clothing for players for One day games, provision of
Umpires, Referees and Coaches fees.
Since the SLC have reverted back to 'Kookabura' balls for practices
and matches this year, the Board has spent a sum of over Rs. 13 Million
more than the previous year. The amount of funds disbursed to coaches as
fees during the tournament period extends to well over Rs. 7 Million.
SLC have also introduced the concept of a 'Player of the Month'
during the tournament for 'League' and limited over games separately to
provide an opportunity for the players to be more competitive.
