PPA elects new officials

The Pharma Promoters Association (PPA) was established in 1986 representing over 30 reputed pharmaceutical companies in Sri Lanka. For the past twenty-years the PPA has been contributing to its vision "to foster goodwill and fellowship through sports and other activities," said the newly elected PPA President Gehan Seneviratne at the Annual General Meeting at the Auditorium of Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) recently.

The AGM was well attended with over 90 percent participation of the membership.

According to the PPA Secretary's report outdoor sports held with over 500 participants and the winners of the cricket tournament was CIC Pharmaceuticals.

Quiz night winners were Akbar Pharmaceuticals (Pvt) Ltd which was held at the Ceylon Continental Hotel. Hemas Pharmaceuticals were the main sponsor of the event.

Sri Lanka Medical Association President Prof. Rezvi Sheriff was the Chief Guest.

The current PPA President Shehan Goonasekera inducted the new PPA President Gehan Seneviratne of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals.

Seneviratne said that their three Patrons are Mahanama Dodampegama of A. Baur and Co, Palitha Jayathilaka, Servier International, Imad Saibo, Monarch Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, and the past President of PPA Bandula Sirimanne of Harcourts Ltd was also elected as a patron this year.

The following members were elected as office-bearers for the year 2009/2010 - President Priyantha Neelawela, Vice President C. Thavaraj, Secretary Ms. Pubudu de Zoysa, Treasurer Ridmaal Fernando, Assistant Secretary Dulip Jayawardene, Assistant Treasurer M. Latiff.

Joe Mutupillai was appointed as Auditors while Hemas Pharmaceutical, CID Pharmaceutical, Astron Ltd, PC Pharma and Nawakrama Pharmaceutical companies were nominated to form the committee of the PPA.


SANASA Development Bank (SDBL) opened its 49th Customer Centre, in Galenbindunuwewa recently which was opened by Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure Development Minister S.M.Chandrasena in the presence of General Manager / CEO of SDBL, Nimal Mamaduwa. P.D.L.Gunarathne - Divisional Secretary-Galenbindunuwewa, H.Premadasa , Regional Manager - Central Bank,.Surandika Wimalarathne, Manager SDBL Anuradhapura.
