Lankans to take part in Spikes Asia 2009
The Metal Factor in partnership with Yes FM will be conducting the
first ever competition to select a team of four young advertising
professionals to attend the Spikes Asia Festival 2009 which will be held
in Singapore from September 16 to 18.
Metal Factor, a partnership between Sri Lanka's advertising industry
professionals to achieve global standards in the industry, has tied up
with Yes FM, to promote more learning opportunities through wider
interaction and knowledge platforms, creating more exposure for young
advertising professionals.
Sri Lanka has been granted a placement for a single team comprising
of up to four young professionals to compete in the Young Spikes
competition and to be Sri Lanka's contenders for the Asian title. The
team will be the first Sri Lankans to participate at the Young Spikes
competition.
The competition in Sri Lanka will consist of a training session for
the participating teams by Sri Lankan advertising professionals,
followed by a brief for a specific assignment. A Creative Director will
be assigned to each team as their mentor.
The team will be required to submit their response to the brief on
that day itself. On the following day, the team will have an opportunity
to complete the campaign and its execution with the facilities made
available to them and their own resources. The next day they will be
required to make a presentation to a jury comprising prominent
professionals from the local advertising industry.
The ideal team would comprise a writer and an art director duo with
integrated advertising competency, especially in the digital platform.
A planner and a media specialist would be the best additional
resources. However, this is not an essential requirement. Each team can
decide how best to compose themselves according to the skills of the
team members and the challenge they have to take up at the Sri Lankan
competition for the Young Spikes competition to select Sri Lanka's team
for the Young Spikes Asia competition.

Spikes Asia is organized by Hay Market in partnership with The
International Advertising Festival; the organizers of the Cannes Lions
festival. The newly launched three-day Spikes Asia festival will take
place at Suntec City in Singapore. After 23 years as Asia's leading
advertising awards, The Spikes will this year inaugurate as an Asian
Advertising Festival offering a three-day program themed to identify and
address specific issues that are relevant to the Asian market.
The Young Spikes program is a special program dedicated to the youth
in the advertising industry from across Asia Pacific. The Sri Lankan
Young Spikes team attending the festival will have the opportunity to
attend seminars and workshops conducted during the Spikes Asia festival,
in addition to participating at the Young Spikes Asia competition. |
