Isipatana make it three in a row

Isipatana College came up with a stupendous performance on Sunday at the Royal Sports Complex to score a sensational 10 points (two tries) to nil win over Trinity College Kandy, in the Under 18 Division one 10 A-side tournament final to retain the trophy for the third successive year.

It was the Isipatana team work which brought this great victory for the third year in a row.

They were also champions in the Under 18A, division conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) and also were champions of the same age group bagging the 'SALONPAS' trophy conducted by the Western Province SRFA recently. It was the Pathanians who drew first blood through their winger P. Arachige who planted a try which was not converted. Pathana 5 Trinity nil during lemons.

After the turn around both teams Pathana and Trinity played in the rain, the wet ball caused slipping most of the time and had to face a comedy of errors. During the 5th minute after the turn around Patahana's Centre Prasad Devinda went for a try near the corner flag unchallenged. Full time score 10 points to nil. More than 300 participants from 23 leading schools in the Island took part.

It was sponsored by the Nestle Lanka Ltd. The chief guest was Mohan H. De Silva (Brand Manager Nestle Lanka PLC).

The results: Cup-Isipatana beat Trinity College Kandy 10 points to nil.

Plate: Wesley College beat Science College (Mt. Lavinia) three points to nil during extra time of play.

Bowl: St. Sylvester College Kandy beat Ananda College Colombo, 17 points to nil.
