Lankans lose to Syria 4-0

The Sri Lankan soccerites participating in the ongoing Nehru Cup soccer championship at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi failed to live upto expectations and lost to syriya four goals to nil.

Syria was in front at the halfway mark with the score reading 3-0. After the break Lankans did everything possible to halt their opponents from scoring freely as in the first session of play and the Syrians could manage only a single goal during this session.

Though the Lankan strikers penetrated the defence line of the Syrians failed to find the correct target to score.

Lankans now have a win from the first game when they defeated Lebanon four goals to three on Saturday. The hosts India lost to Lebanon in their first game, but did well to overcome Kyrgystan one goal to nil on Sunday.
