Quotes at the 12th World Athletics Championships

*"For me, anything is possible." - Jamaica's Usain Bolt after he took 0.11sec off his own 100m world record.

*"I knew it was going to be fast, but I didn't expect it to be that fast. Usain showed us that it is possible. He took it to another level. As for me, I ran the final on one leg. I was running after him to try and congratulate him and I still couldn't catch him." - Jamaica's Asafa Powell after he won the bronze in the 100m final.

*"I'm ecstatic. It's an unbelievable jump for me. It's been a rollercoaster for the last few weeks. I have not slept well but luckily I had good people around me."

- Australia's Steven Hooker after he won the pole vault world title with a leap of 5.90 despite suffering from a hip injury.

* "If I can survive this, I can survive anything."

- Croatia's Blanka Vlasic who needed six stitches after cutting her head on a door frame while warming up for the high-jump qualification event. She bounced back and defended her world title with a winning leap of 2.04m.

* "I saw Bolt for maybe three seconds, that guy is really fast. I was just glad to finish the race, get a medal, do a lap of honour and not then find I had been disqualified." - US sprinter Wallace Spearmon who took bronze in the 200m final. Last August, at the Olympics, Spearmon thought he had the bronze medal in the 200m final only to discover he had been disqualified while on his lap of honour.

* "If Queen Elizabeth knighted me, I would get the title 'Sir Usain Bolt'? That sounds very nice."

- Bolt toys with the idea of being a 'Sir'.
