Haddin flies back to Australia for checks

Wicketkeeper Brad Haddin will return to Australia for checks on a fractured finger, Cricket Australia (CA) said in a statement on Monday.

Haddin missed the third Ashes test at Edgbaston after injuring a finger on his left hand but returned to play out the fourth and fifth tests in Australia’s 2-1 series defeat by England.

“It has now been decided Brad will return to Australia to allow him further recovery time and consultation with specialists to determine the best possible management of the injury,” Australia physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said in the statement.

A decision on whether Haddin will take part in the one-day and Twenty20 matches against England will be made once he has seen the specialists. No replacement will be added to the Australian squad, CA said.
