National Productivity Awards

The Labour Relations and Manpower Ministry will hold this year's National Productivity Award Ceremony on September 3, 11 and 18 in Kalutara, Kegalle and Polonnaruwa respectively.

The National Productivity Awards Ceremony for the Southern and Western Provinces will be held in Kalutara, while the ceremonies for Sabaragamuwa, North Western and Uva Provinces will be held in Kegalle, and the Central, North and North Central Provinces in Polonnaruwa, Ministry sources said.

Asked about the plans behind the National Productivity Awards Ceremony Labour Relations and Manpower Minister Athauda Seneviratne yesterday said they intended to encourage the public by organizing such events to boost their productivity, he added, " I must reveal that Sri Lanka is getting all the support it needs to increase its levels of productivity from The Asian Productivity Organisation(APO)."

The APO is a regional intergovernmental organization, which was established in 1961, with 20 member countries in Asia and the Pacific, whose mission is to enable its members to achieve greater socio-economic development through strategies of increasing productivity in all economic sectors.

Minister Seneviratna said, they plan to give away the awards this year to the most successful institutions that have reached their targets through effective implementation of productivity strategies. He said , the National Productivity Awards Ceremony held in Sri Lanka has attracted international attention over the last few years.

"The government plans to increase their individual performance levels through its national productivity-based development strategy," he added.
