Hewage in Interim Committee

Deputy Inspector General Upali Hewage has been appointed to the SLRFU Interim Committee by the Minister of Sports Gamini Lokuge. DIG Hewage, a well-known sports personality, is an old boy of Thurstan College and captained the College Rugby team in 1968, and also a member of the athletic team and a senior cadet. Since leaving school he has been involved with the Thurstan Rugby as a Co-ordinator for several decades and at present is the Vice President of the Thurstan Rugby Football Club. Currently he is also heading the development of the new Thurstan Rugby grounds at the Thurstan Park in the Old Racecourse.

During his long and distinguished Police career he was involved in many sports associations and held the positions of Deputy Secretary General, Football Federation of Sri Lanka, Vice President Volleyball Federation, Vice President Government Services Sports Association and President Trincomalee Football Federation.
