National action plans for enhancing education
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Education Minister
Susil Premajayanth for the setting up of national action plans for
enhancing education for peace and sustainable development.
Posthumous promotions to male/female police personnel
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa as the Defence, Public Security, Law and Order Minister to
extend the granting of posthumous promotions which have already been
granted to the Police personnel who died due to terrorist activities, to
the male/female Police personnel who died under the circumstances
arising beyond any error of their while performing their normal official
duties.
Waste water management system for Kattankudy
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Water Supply and
Drainage Minister A.L.M. Athaullah to implement a new waste water
disposal system for Kattankudy Divisional Secretariat Division.
The total expenditure for the implementation of the project is Rs.
4,215.1 million, will be included in the Public Investment Program for
2010-2012.
The project will be completed by 2012.
Purchasing of 6,000 rails to Sri Lanka Railway
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Transport Minister
Dullas Alahapperuma to purchase 6,000, 20 metre EN 45 E1 rails for Sri
Lanka Railways. Accordingly the tender will be awarded to the M/s Corus
Rail France S.A.
The total FOB value for the purchasing of rails is Euro 3,490,700
which includes 0.1 percent of local agent commission.
Methodology for repair of minor irrigation projects
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Agriculture
Development and Agrarian Services Minister Maithripala Sirisena which
includes the proposals aimed at successfully finding solutions to
streamline minor irrigation projects.
A 'Joint Steering Committee' will be appointed for each district by
the Agrarian Development Department and the institution holding
responsibility of irrigation of the respective Provincial Council and
planning of all minor irrigation repairs to be decided by that
committee.
An annual budgetary allocation for minor irrigation repairs to be
given to Provincial Councils as well as Agrarian Development Department.
Coordination and operation of this task to be assigned to the
Agriculture Development and Agrarian Services Ministry which begin the
line Ministry responsible for this subject under the central Government.
Greater Ratnapura water supply scheme
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Water Supply and
Drainage Minister A.L.M. Athaullah for the implementation of Greater
Ratnapura Water Supply Scheme in two phases/ water treatment plants.
The External Resources Department (ERD) will be directed to seek
funding from the Spanish Government or any other funding source.
Infrastructure facilities to institutions under Health Ministry
The Cabinet has approved three separate cabinet memorandum submitted
by Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva for the
construction of an Accident Unit and Emergency Treatment Unit for the
General Hospital in Ratnapura, a Cancer ward Complex for Teaching
Hospital in Batticaloa, an Operating Theatre Complex for Teaching
Hospital in Kegalle.
The estimated cost for the new Accident Unit and Emergency Treatment
Unit of the General Hospital in Ratnapura is Rs. 502,868,607.
The estimated cost for Cancer Ward Complex in Batticaloa hospital is
Rs. 123,146,870 and Rs. 332,936,376 will be spent on the construction of
Operating Theatre Complex in Kegalle hospital.
The construction work of all these three complexes will be assigned
to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB).
Taking over Moneragala District General Hospital to the Central
Government
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Healthcare and
Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva to take over the Moneragala
District General Hospital to the Central Government.
Development of Kadawata town centre
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Urban Development
and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to award the
construction work of bus stand and infrastructure facilities to the
Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) with the Sri Lanka Land
Reclamation and Development Corporation (SLLE & DC) as the co-partner of
the construction work.
