Shasheendra sworn in as Uva Chief Minister

Shasheendra Kumara Rajapaksa who took his oaths as the Chief Minister
of the Uva Province at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday received a
gift of a Kurahan Satakaya (Shawl) depicting the sweat and toil of the
farmers of Giriwapattuwa from President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The swearing
in ceremony of the Chief Minister and all other UPFA members elected to
the Uva Provincial Council began at the Presidential Secretariat after a
brief religious ceremony and Anusasana by the Maha Sangha and blessings
of all religious dignitaries.
Thereafter the UPFA members took their oaths collectively before
President Rajapaksa and Uva Governor C. Nanda Mathew after which Chief
Minister Shasheendra Kumara Rajapaksa took his oaths. All members later
received their appointment letters from the President.
Other distinguished guests present on the occasion included Prime
Minster Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka Ministers Maithripala Sirisena, Nimal
Siripala de Silva, Prof. G.L. Peiris, Sunil Premajayantha, Douglas
Devananda, NFF Leader Wimal Weerawansa MP, Presidential Secretary Lalith
Weeratunge, Governors and Chief Ministers of other provinces Provincial
Ministers and Councillors among others.
