Lankan fishermen stranded in sea

Four Sri Lankan fishermen surrendered to Indian Naval officials after their boats developed technical snags and got stranded in the Palk Straits.

Indian Police said the four men had come from Mannar district of Sri Lanka in two boats to net fish and got stranded in the sea as the boat engines developed snag following heavy rains.

From the point where they got stranded, they could see the Rameswaram coast. They had pushed the boats towards Rameswaram and surrendered before the Naval men.

They were being interrogated by the officials. The boats have been seized.
