SSP’s son remanded

Nugegoda Magistrate Wasantha Jinadasa who inspected, the condition of Ravindu Gunawardena, son of Senior SP Vaas Gunawardena, at the Colombo South Hospital on a directive of Kaduwela Additional District Judge Mahanil Prasanth de Silva, remanded him till August 31.

PM assures action against errant police officers

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayaka told Parliament yesterday that the Government has no intention whatsoever to defend police officers connected to the assassination of two youth in Angulana and the assault on a Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) student.

Following CB’s monetary policy measures :

Interest rates continue to drop

Market interest rates continue to decline following the monetary policy measures taken by the Central Bank, but they are yet to adjust fully to the policy rate reductions by the Central Bank, a media release from the Central Bank said.
