Local Government Business Forum

The Local Government Symposium and Exhibition 2009 will be held today and tomorrow at the BMICH under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The inaugural ceremony will be followed by technical sessions that will open the floor to engage in a discussion on current local government trends, policy priorities and economic governance in the local government sector.

The main objectives of this year's National Symposium are knowledge sharing, identification, dissemination of leading local government practices, Contemporarily Policy Priorities - informing current status of the Reform Agenda, Inter Government and Stakeholder Partnership: strengthening the partnership to foster better local governance.

This will lead to better understanding of local government and local businesses with the participation of the corporate sector of Sri Lanka.

The Business Forum presentations will be deliverd by reputed business sector companies in Sri Lanka such as John Keells Office Automation (Pvt) Ltd, DIMO- Diesel and Motor Engineering PLC, the Colombo Stock Exchange, Sri Lanka Telecom PLC/SLT Vision Com, Suryavahini (Private) Limited, Holcim (Lanka) Ltd, Mobitel Sri Lanka, Abans (Pvt) Ltd., Solex Engineering (Pvt) Ltd., Mihin Lanka, Arpico- Richard Pieris and Company Ltd., Over 40 companies will take part in the corporate sector exhibition at the Local Government Symposium.
