Robbers arrested

Four members of a robber gang wanted in connection with a spate of robberies in Matale and the suburbs were arrested by a special team of the Matale Police who recovered some of the robbed jewellery and several mobile phones from their pocession yesterday.

Investigation revealed that the gang had been responsible for the theft of gold jewellery from the official residence of the head priest attached to the Matale Sri Muththumari Amman Kovil and several other major robberies.
