Puliyankulam police station opens

Inspector General of Police Jayantha Wickremaratane opening the
Puliyankulam Police Station along the A-9 main road recently, said it
was a historic day for the Police Department.
"The Three Forces and the Police have taken over all LTTE controlled
areas. We are proud to say that under the leadership of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa the entire
Sri Lanka is now under one flag," he said.
The IGP also opened an Assistant Superintendent's Office along the
A-9 main road.
The IGP said the Police was able to open these two police stations
under the Uthuru Vasanthaya led by Senior Advisor to the President Basil
Rajapaksa MP.
The Law Enforcing Officers the Police assisted the Three Forces in
fighting in the conflict areas assisted by the Special Task Force (STF).
"Thirty years of conflict had come to an end. Now we have made all
arrangements to set up new Police stations in the North and in the East
with a new Deputy Inspector General of Police assisted by a Senior
Superintendent of Police", IGP Wickremaratne said.
In addition to the Police stations set up in the East and the North,
the Police Department will set up another 20 Police stations in those
cleared areas, the IGP said.
