Move to grow herbal plants

Angage Jagath Thilakasiri Perera, Western Provincial Council’s
Health, Women’s Affairs and Childcare Minister said action will be taken
to grow Herbal plants in lands in Western Province. a 25-acre block of
land in Gampaha district has already been demarcated for the purpose.
This project will save millions of rupees in foreign exchange that
will be spent to import herbal and Ayurvedic medicine products.
He said this, addressing a gathering at the opening ceremony of the
Ayurvedic medicine products manufacturing unit at the Wadduwa Molligoda
Ayurvedic Hospital.
The Minister said the opening of the Herbal Ayurvedic Manufacturing
unit is an asset to this Ayurvedic Hospital. The Central government and
the Western Provincial Council has spent around Rs. 40 lakhs to install
this manufacturing unit.
He said the Western Provincial Council is considering to expand this
Ayurvedic Hospital acquiring land close to the hospital.
