LTTE arms, explosives recovered

Officers attached to the Police Special Task Iluppaddichenai Camp recovered a large stock of arms and explosives hidden underground by LTTE terrorists prior to their defeat during operations carried out at Narumulla, Laveniaru, Tararikulam and Kuruththumbada areas on July 27.

The arms and explosions recovered included the following - 58 T56 weapons, one grenade pistol and two cartridges, 2560 mm 9 micro cartridges, 3800, 5.56 x 45mm cartridges, two land mines weighing 11kg 300 gms and 12 kg respectively, Three 15kg power charges, 11000 7.62 x 10 shells and 111 anti personnel mines.
