No recess in combating drugs, underworld

n defeating alcoholism, drugs and the underworld I am not ready to
consider the consequences or the effects it would have on the elections,
the Mathata Thitha anti-alcohol and drug program and the war on the
underworld will be continued without considering popularity or support,
President Mahinda Rajapaksa said at the President's House, Kandy
yesterday.
The President was addressing 3,000 UNP activists among whom were
several local government representatives of the Badulla District who had
joined the UPFA to support President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
When national decisions in respect of the country was taken they
could not be negotiated or devalued and he was not prepared to allow
anyone or anything to deter the steps to be taken in the national
interest, the President said.
