Second SAARC Transport Conference begins today

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka will inaugurate the second
SAARC Transport Ministers Conference at the Hilton, Colombo at 9 a.m.
today, July 25.
A Transport Ministry communique said Transport Ministers of Sri
Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan are due to
attend todays conference.
The agenda will include discussions regarding the proposed Boat
Service linking Colombo Cochin and Tuticorin and the opening of a train
service from Talaimannar to Chennai. Ministers would also review the
progress achieved on decisions taken at previous SAARC conferences.
