Navy Commander calls on Mahanayake Theras

Navy Commander Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa and called on the Mahanayakes of Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters in Kandy in order to receive their blessings on his new appointment. He was accompanied by his family members and several senior Naval officers.

The Navy Commander first visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa and was received by Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara.

He was then conducted to the Inner Shrine Room of the Maligawa where he paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic.

Thereafter, the Navy Commander called on the Mahanayakes of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters at the Malwatte and Asgiriya Maha Viharayas. The Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera and Mahanayake of the Asgiriya-Chapter Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddha Rakkhitha Thera invoked the blessings of the Triple Gem on the Navy Commander and delivered Anusasanas bestowing strength and courage to carry out the duties of his august office with firm resolve in accordance with traditions and customs which the country is blessed with.
