Handicraft exhibition



Daha ata sanniya, a rare variety of wood carving included in the Handicraft Exhibition.

A sales centre and an Exhibition of Handicrafts of all around the island jointly organized by Rural Industries and Self-Employment Development Ministry and the National Craft Council will be held from July 23 to 25 at Kuliyapitiya Town Hall.

To uplift the financial strength of Handicraft men and women the National Craft Council wish to organize Craft Sales Centres islandwide including the North and East.

There are 40 stalls in the Sales Centre and it will be open from 9 am to 9 pm. Bathik, marks, hand-loom textiles Dumbara Rata creations, indigenous musical instruments, clay, works gold, silver, lacksha, cane, patchwork, embroider, sesath, wood carving and nearly thousand varieties of handicraft items will be available in 40 stalls, the Chairman of the National Craft Council Dr. Buddhi Keerthisena told the Daily News.

The public can buy craft without a middleman straight from the creators at the Stalls Centre.
