He said "We couldn't do agricultural development in these areas
because of the war.
But now we can do it. Northern and Eastern Provinces development is
mainly based on agriculture. Just as I meet you today I also hope to
meet farmers in a few days and try to find out their problems and solve
them immediately."
"We already have discussed with Senior Advisor to the President Basil
Rajapaksa MP to give our fullest support to the development program
Uthuru Vasanthaya. We should increase the production of food crops,
including paddy.
We hope to give seeds, fertilizer and agricultural advice to farmers.
We alsohope to make an awareness among those farmers about the local
market." said the Minister.
He also said "We are going to take action to conduct the Api Wavamu
-Rata Nagamu national food production program in Northern and Eastern
provinces.
We made an agricultural record in 2008. Now the time has come for the
people who live in Northern and Eastern provinces to contribute to break
that 2008 record.
Our aim is to get maximum use of the agricultural knowledge of the
people who live in these areas for the development of the country." |
