Police women soccer champs

The Sri Lanka Police Women's Football team won the 2009 Inter Sports
Club National Women's Football Championship by beating the Army Women's
Football team at the final held at the Henry Pedris ground recently.
The winning goal was struck by Shyanika Rajapaksa during the second
half. Mihiri Geethangani captained the Police team.
This is the tenth time the Police Women's team won this championship
during its history. It emerged victorious continuously from 1998 to
2006. After a break in 2007 and 2008 when the Army Women teams emerged
victories. The Police team has once again re-established its number one
position this year beating the Army team.
IGP Jayantha Wickremaratne who met the Police Women's Football team
after their victory wish them every success in the future.
The Police women's football team consists of: Mihira Geethangani,
Pushpa Ekanayake, Menaka Bandarigoda, J.M. Jayasuriya, Manel Irangani,
Sriyani Priyadarshani, Shanika Rajapaksa, Anusha Dilani, Niluka
Damayanthi, Shiyamali Priyanthika, Anurudhika Fernando, Iresha Kumari,
Inoka Ramanayake, Monika Maduwanthi, Maduwanthi Kumari, P.R.M. Hansika,
Jeewani Waduge, Sachithra Abeyratne, Nadeesha Priyadharshani, Chandima
Priyangani, Roshani Sandamali, Niroshika Madushani and Sashikala
Maduwanthi.
