Old Bens veterans victorious

Old Bens Veterans lifted the Henry Don Paul Trophy defeating Old Mazedonians by 3 goals to 1 in the annual soccer encounter played at Kandana. At half time score stood 1-all.

Lal Silva struck the opener for Kandana team in the 13th minute but the lead was short lived with Old Bens Veterans equalising through Nishan Caldera.

After the interval the Kotahena team had better exchanges and dominated play with tip brand soccer. Two quick goals from former Sri Lanka Player Adrian Vindarampulle and Donald Fernando in the 70th and 76th minutes of the game saw Old Bens Veterans achieving a well deserved victory. Old Mazedonian strikers should be blamed for their defeat as they missed number easy scoring chances.

Re. Bro. Bertram Perera, Director, De Mazenod College was the chief guest while former National goal keeper D. Chandrasiri was the guest of honour.
