Kuwaiti parliament lifts immunity on:
Eight accused lawmakers
KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti parliament lifted on Thursday immunity of
eight members accused in press misdemeanors and criminal cases, Kuwaiti
News Agency reported.
The Kuwaiti parliament voted for lifting immunity of the eight
members upon the request of public prosecution to interrogate them over
accusations of press violations and taking part in illegal tribal
elections.
However the report did not mention any details about the press
violations committed by the eight lawmakers. A Kuwaiti law maker has
earlier accused Interior Minister Jaber Al-Khaled of collaboration in
vote purchase during parliamentary elections held recently in Kuwait.
The accusation came against the background of the story of a
candidate who delivered bribes during candidacy registration.
However, the parliament voted against the impeachment and renewed
trust in the minister. KUWAIT CITY, Friday, Xinhua |
