The officers of all ranks and file led by Air Force Commander Air
Chief Marshal Roshan Goonatileke and Chief of Air Force Staff Air Vice
Marshal P.B. Premachandra observed two minutes silence in remembrance of
their sacrifice for the Motherland.
The Air Force's contribution towards the establishment of peace in
the country is incomparable since the beginning of the humanitarian
operation from Mavilaru.
The SLAF was actively involved in the wiping out of terrorism in the
country by destroying terrorists' logistic facilities.
The Air Force Commander and the Chief of Air Force Staff offered
floral tributes to the war heroes memorial while officers representing
all ranks of the SLAF including the civil servants placed floral wreaths
at the war memorial. A disabled solider representing the Air Force
personnel who became disabled in their duties to safeguard the
motherland also made floral tributes to the war heroes' memorial.
This ceremony organised by the SLAF for the 12th year in succession
was attended by air bases' commanders, directors and high ranking
officers of the SLAF.
