Sisu Seriya in Kandy

A new school bus service in the Kandy district under the Transport Ministry's Sisu Seriya project was launched by Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma at a ceremony at the Institute of the Engineering Services Auditorium in Kandy yesterday.

Fifty four buses will be deployed for the school service in the district which will benefit school children in 25 schools in Kandy.

A Transport Ministry Spokesman told the Daily News that the major objective of the Sisu Seriya is to provide buses exclusively for schoolchildren and teachers to enable them to attend school punctually, safely, economically and without physical or mental harassment.
