Kuwait Red Crescent Society donated Rs. 100 million relief material
to be distributed among Internally Displaced Persons in Vuvuniya.
A five member delegation from Kuwait headed by Maitham MYA Mal Allah
of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society donated the goods to Director (WFP)
Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure Development Ministry Anuradha
Kumarasiri at the Bandaranaike International Airport VIP Lounge.
The Kuwait government and the Kuwait Red Crescent Society would
constantly help Sri Lanka and this donation would also strengthen ties
between the two countries Maitham Mya Mal Allah said.
The relief goods weighing 302 tons consists of 4,000 tents, 4,000
blankets,
4,000 family food parcels and 4,000 boxes of kitchen utensils were
brought in a special Kuwait Airlines flight. These goods would be
distributed to IDPs through the District Secretary Vavuniya, Anuradha
Kumarasiri told Daily News.
