Work almost over on rest hall at Sanchi Viharaya
Work is nearing completion on the proposed rest hall (Vishrama Salawa)
built at Sanchi Viharaya in Bopal, India under the guidance of Urban
Development and Sacred Area Development Minister and MEP leader Dinesh
Gunawardena.
The project estimated to cost Rs. 82 million will help enhance
existing cordial relations between Sri Lanka and India, Gunawardena said
in a communique yesterday.
He said the three storeyed modern complex will be equipped with all
common amenities including 24 double rooms, water and electricity
supply, sanitary facilities and access roads.
It is hoped to open this facility in time for the next Indian
pilgrimage season.
The Minister thanked Sanchi Viharadhipati Ven. Banagala Upatissa
Sanghanayaka Thera, State Government of Madya Pradesh, Indian High
Commission and the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry for their support and
co-operation towards the successful completion of this project.
