ITN introduces Vasantham TV

Independent Television Network (ITN), the oldest and most popular
television channel of our time, celebrated its 30th anniversary on air
by launching a television channel targeting Tamil viewers. Named
Vasantham TV with the slogan 'The Spring of Life', the new television
channel began transmission covering most of the western province zone on
VHF-09.
Vasantham TV comprises a wide spectrum of programs: from news and
current affairs to entertainment and educational programs catering to
the whole family. It functions from 6 a.m. till midnight and is also
available on Dialog TV and Sri Lanka Telecom PEO TV.
Chairman of ITN Anura Siriwardena stated that Vasantham TV is branded
the only channel catering to the Tamil identity in the country.
He said that the team hopes to expand the coverage so that all the
citizens in each corner of the island will be able to enjoy the programs
telecast on the channel.
Deputy Manager of Vasantham TV M. Kulendran said that he is
optimistic about the channel's future. He believes in the fact that the
Tamil artistes and business personalities will extend their full
cooperation towards making the channel the number one Tamil channel in
Sri Lanka.
The channel already had the support of some of the leading business
communities in the country. Bank of Ceylon (BOC) is one of the sponsors
of the channel while the Development Lotteries Board sponsors the films
telecast on Vasantham TV. Ganesh Textiles sponsors the time check. |
