Ratnam through to Holcim FA Cup semis

Ratnam Sports Club made their entry into the semi-finals of the Holcim FA Cup soccer championship when they defeated Maligawatte Youth SC 7 goals to 2 yesterday at the FFSL ground Kelaniya. At half time Ratnam SC were well ahead with the reading 3-0.

Ratnam SC entered the fray minus five of the stalwarts but the replacement performed well to maintain their supremacy. Specially it was Malintha Migara who came up with flying colours scoring two goals. He was the replacement for National Skipper Chathura Maduranga.

The other replacement Chryshantha Abeysinghe too added a feather to his cap scoring a goal for his side.

The most outstanding was the national player and the main striker Kasun Jayasuriya who netted in 2 goals in the first session of play to put his side into a strong position along with Malintha Migara (1). Chinthana Maduranga and N. Sudharshan netted in a goal each.

For losers M. Ifthikar and M. Farook scored goals. Anura de Silva controlled the game.
