Displaced girl re-united

A displaced girl had been re-united with her parents, the Attorney
General informed the Supreme Court when the fundamental rights
application filed on behalf of five members of the same family who were
living in the welfare centers in the North, was mentioned before the
court on Wednesday.
The Bench comprised Acting Chief Justice Dr. (Mrs.) Shirani
Bandaranayake, Justice K. Sripavan and Justice Mrs. Chandra Ekanayake.
Senior State Counsel Riyaz Hamza for the respondents submitted that
the girl had been reunited with her parents in the Shiwaprakash Welfare
Centre and her grandmother was released and living with one of their
relatives in Jaffna. Counsel Saliya Pieris for petitioner
Attorney-at-Law Gauri Shangari Thawarasa made an application for urgent
medical treatment for the girl who was seriously ill.
Petitioner Attorney-at-Law Gauri Shangari Tawarasa filed rights
application on behalf of five members so the same family seeking their
re-unification and release from the welfare centres.
The case would be mentioned on July 02.
